Eastland Group

A sustainable approach

For Eastland Group, sustainability is about acting in a way that benefits the environment and the communities we operate in – while creating value for our shareholder.

Eastland Group is currently working on assessing climate change risks and opportunities. The assessment is expected to be disclosed in the annual report and/or on the sustainability page of our website by the end of July 24.

Environmental initiatives

Across our sectors, with every project, our staff work to improve environmental outcomes.

Eastland Port’s industry-leading, award-winning approach to port-related stormwater treatment was a world first. With input from iwi and hapū, the Department of Conservation and Gisborne District Council, they have established a protected coastal habitat for kororā (little blue penguins).

At Gisborne Airport, planting days with local students and mana whenua are gradually helping to restore the health of the Waikanae Stream.

Over at Eastland Generation’s Waihi Dam, the team continues to enhance the habitat for native wildlife, with plantings of native seedlings across the catchment area.
