At Eastland Group we do everything we can to make sure everyone goes home safely from work each night.
We believe a safe workplace is a basic expectation of employment.
We’ve been working hard on health and safety over the past few years. We want to raise performance by improving our systems, attitudes and behaviours. We have made great progress but we understand there is never room for complacency, and we will always strive to improve even further.
Eastland Port is a border facility. We are actively engaged in managing COVID-19 at all of our facilities.
Our Pandemic Response controls are regularly reviewed throughout our operations. Eastland Port works closely with Hauora Tairāwhiti Health Board, Maritime New Zealand, NZ Customs Service and other industry organisations to ensure best practice COVID-19 management.
EASTLAND PORT IS CURRENTLY OPERATING UNDER THE COVID-19 ORANGE SETTING.
COVID-19 Testing at Eastland Port
Eastland Port is supported by the Hauora Tairāwhiti DHB to undertake testing of high-risk workers and others. Eastland Port provides a weekly testing clinic on-site, available to staff of Eastland Port and other PCBUs operating on the Port.
The Port operates under the currently prevailing COVID-19 Public Health Order. The Ministry of Health reviews the Public Health Orders regularly in response to changing circumstances and the Port responds immediately to any changes required.
International vessel crew shore leave
The Ministry of Health has set new guidelines that allow international vessel crew to qualify for shore leave while in New Zealand. These guidelines set tight controls to ensure that eligible crew are free of COVID-19 infection.
Seafarer welfare is an important component of the international response to COVID-19 and Eastland Port is committed to playing our part in supporting visiting seafarers in a way that is safe for our staff and our community.
