Gisborne-based Eastland Group specialises in regional infrastructure. In Tairāwhiti, our operations include Eastland Port, Gisborne Airport and lines company Eastland Network. Our Eastland Generation business operates two geothermal power plants in the Bay of Plenty, and the Waihi hydro scheme near Wairoa.
Our sole shareholder is Trust Tairāwhiti, and we return millions of dollars to them each year for the ultimate benefit of our community.
We employ a number of engineers across our business sectors. Providing scholarships to local engineering students is one of the ways we support the regions we operate in and the young stars of the future.
Every year, we award $5,000 annual scholarships to several engineering students – last year, we awarded five. If you receive a scholarship, pass your exams, and reapply each year, we aim to continue supporting you throughout your studies. This means the total scholarship could be worth as much as $20,000 over a four year degree.
It may also include the opportunity to have paid holiday work over the summer with Eastland Group.
Along with our Eastland Group Tertiary Engineering Scholarships, we’re also offering an Eastland Generation Scholarship. This is for a student who is specifically interested in a career in the geothermal industry, and is keen to have work experience at our Te Ahi O Maui and GDL geothermal power plants in Kawerau.
